My due date was April 20th. At my appointment that
day, my blood pressure was high. Since week 38, my blood pressure had been rising. Since I was 40 weeks and my bllod pressure
was high, we decided to be induced that evening.
We arrived at the hospital around 7pm, got settled in and once
we got hooked up to the monitors, they told me I was already having contractions on my own. I had cramps all day but they
were so light that I didn’t think it was contractions. The gave me Cervadil (sp)? to get the labor going.
A couple hours later the contractions were 2 minutes apart and
very intense. I had dilated to 5cm at which time I got an epidural. I continued dilating through the night. Around 9am I was
fully dilated, I started pushing a little before 10am. I pushed for 3 hours, making progress, almost there, but not enough.
Isabella was pretty big, and the doctors felt there was no way I was going to push her out on my own.
After three hours of pushing, and an episiotomy, they decided
to use the vacuum to assist. I was very scared but at that point, I really had nothing left to give, so we decided to go ahead.
They used it for one pull and we had Isabella Ann at 12:51pm.
