I was four days overdue and the baby was thought to be large so the dr. wanted to try inducing. I was admitted
to L&D Friday morning the 27th 1-2 cm dilated. They started pitocin at 9am but nothing progressed during the day. Contractions
started that night with cervidil and by 9am the next morning the Dr. was able to break my water. Needless to say it was not
a restful night!
By 2:00 pm I started pushing. By 4 pm all available nurses were helping and the dr. was becoming concerned that
the baby's shoulders might be stuck. But since her heart rate was good they didn't want to try c-section. I continued pushing
despite complete exhaustion and with one successful use of the vacuum Natalie finally arrived! It turns out her little hand
was resting on her cheek which kept her from passing through and kept me pushing EVERY 2 minutes for 4 hours
and 12 minutes! I was hit with an adrenaline rush when I finally saw my baby. They placed her on my chest and I cut the cord.
DH made it clear that he didn't even want to be asked, which all the nurses teased him about.
It was a surreal experience. All I wanted to do those last couple of hours was close my eyes and go to sleep,
but once she arrived I couldn't take my eyes off of her.
