Birth Story:
I had an DA on 4/17/07 where they gave me my instructions for my C-section. Nothing to eat
after Midnight. C-section was scheduled for 7:30am on 4/18/07 and I had to be at the hospital no later than 5:00am for Pre-Op.
So that day I go home and I start getting everything ready and making sure I have everything. I thought I was going
to sleep good that night being that I had not slept good in a couple of nights. Yea right! I slept maybe 3 hours if that.
I woke up at 3:30am and could no longer sleep. So I layed in bed and prayed and than I got up about 4:00am and got in
the shower. After that I got DH and DS up and said lets get it together. So they got up and did the bathroom runs and
we were ready to go. I had to call my mom like so many times because she was not answering the phone.I started getting nervous.
So I get to the hospital at 5:00am and have to wait for the Valet dudes to get there to park my car. They were almost
20 minutes late. Oh well. So I take DS to the baby nursury while I am waiting on mom to get there. And then finally mom got
there. I set my DS up with his DVD player and some juice so he would not bother no one for anything. We are the only ones
there. I go to Pre-Op to sign in and about 15 minutes after I get there another girl walks in with her mom to sign in. She
was real young poor thing. Anyways they tell us both that we have to wait because the Pre-Op person was running late. I was
like UGH maybe today is not my day.So we are sent back to the waiting room. And then someone comes about 20 minutes later
and calls the girl that came in after me to go to Pre-Op I was pissed off.Like WTF I was here first. Well I found out why
she got to go first. Her mom works at the hospital and she was going to recovery where her mom worked. I kept my cool because
I knew she had lost a baby. Finally I am called back and hooked up to all the monitors. Asked my medical history and there
I started to panic. Not panic just really got scared as the time got closer. In came my Doctor and than I knew there was no
turning around and waiting for another day. I did have to make sure they had hospital clothes big enough to fit my mom
before they took me in.
Finally I am wheeled into the OR and the show starts.I entered at 7:29am.Damn it was cold
in there. So they prepped me to do the Spinal. While they were prepping me I was asking all kinds of questions.I wanted to know
who was who and what their jobs consisted of.There was a student watching the whole thing.Okay so now the Spinal was in place
and it was time for me to lay down. How quick it takes action. They insert the catheter and than they had to tape my tummy up.I
have an apron tummy.LOL I told them I needed a camera on the ceiling to take a picture of that so I could sale it on EBay.They
laughed so hard. Also I was really scared about having side affects from the Spinal like not being to breath.I took it very
awesome.I mean only one time did I feel like I was going to get sick but that was because my Blood Pressure dropped which
is normal with the Spinal. They have meds they inject in your IV to make it come back up.
The Doctor entered and he
said flatten the table and that was it.The anastesiologist was checking to see if I was numb or not.I guess I was cause shortly
after that I heard you better get Grandma in here so she can see this child born. She came in sat down for a second and was
called to duty.Grandma do you want to cut the cord. And there she went.I could not believe they let her go back behind
the blue sheet. She said she did not even look back at me cause she did not want to see me wide open like that.I heard little
cat cries. It was beautiful. Her Apgars were 9/9.Oh it was beautiful to hear the cries. And there went my mom and the baby goodbye. They
left me I was put back together and transferred to a differant bed.Taken to recovery and then they brouht my baby in where
she latched so good.Unfortunately I only breastfed for 1 week because I got a lump that hurt.
I was than transferred
to my room where I had to share with somone.OMGoodness! It was so bad.I had requested my own room. But had to wait.Anyways.My
neighbor left and in came another one.How fricken rude were they. Her man took a shower in the bathroom and used it. EW! and
than they complained about wanting their own room and they got it before me.I was matter than a wet hen.Just because they
had United Healthcare Insurance.LOL I have the same Insurance.Oh well again.
By this time I have a pounding headache
that I can not even get up.It hurts so bad I am in tears. My mom is worried because I am still on Morphine why is it hurting
so bad.So she calls the Nurses and this other nurse came running in and was like you need to stay flat on your back we are
going to call the anastesiologist. They came in and said they would be right back.Never came back.So I just layed flat
on my back until it hurt so much that I could not.Well the next day its 10 times worst than it was I was seeing blurry and
the headache was awful and I suffer from Migraines. So when I say awful I mean awful ladies.
They had to come
back and they seen how bad I was they had to do a Blood Patch.Which is where they do an Epidural but with out the painmeds
in it.What they did was take blood from my arm and insert it in the Epidural to block the leakage. What I had was an Spinal
Leak which is the worst thing ever. What happened is there is a leakage of Spinal fluid going to your head. And when you
stand up OMGoodness talking about the worst pain ever. But the Blood Patch worked.I went back to my room and went to sleep
and than woke up ate and bathed I felt so good.
i will tell you though I still did get lots of pressure and headaches
after but not near as bad.And the nex thing is my back is fraked up and will never be the same. And I get headaches and OMGoodness
they hurt lke hell but with some IBUprofen it helps it alot. That is my birth story and I hope I did not scare anyone with
it.My miracle baby is here and she is a Princess of my castle!
