Birth Story:
Well, we had a scheduled c-section on April 5, 2007 due to my gestational hypertension, the thought of a huge baby and because
my cervix wouldn't do anything.
We went in around 7:00 a.m. that morning and they started prepping me. Around 8:00, the fun epidural came but it was
a breeze. The worst part of it was the pressing on my back to make me stay bent over. They got both Chris and I ready in
my cap and he in his scrubs. We were scheduled for a 9:15 c-section but the assisting doctor was running behind on another
surgery. So about 9:10, they wheeled me to the OR and transfered me to the operating table. I was so nervous and it was
worse since Chris had to wait to come in until they were reay to start. He said that was the worst 15 minutes of his life
waiting in the recovery room to be brought back to the OR. They said they were ready and I flipped because Chris wasn't there
yet. He finally got brought in and before I knew it, the nurse anethesist was telling me the baby was about to be out.
Then, the sweetest sound you could hear came with Camden's cries. They popped his head over the curtain to show me and
I started crying my eyes out. They brought him over to me and told me my shock how little he was - 6 lbs 4 oz. They got
me all fixed up and back into the recovery room. During that time, Chris had gone with the baby to have a bath and be shown
off to the grandparents, family and friends who were waiting. When I got back to the recovery room, my sweet angel was waiting
to be held by his mommy. It was the perfect moment.
We went upstairs to our post room around 11:30 and everyone finally got to meet Camden for the first time.
We got to go home on Easter Sunday and had our first Easter lunch all together that his sweet Meme cooked for us. Upon
discharge, his weight had gone down to 5 lbs 15 oz. but he was still doing great and had just a tiny touch of jaundice. We
are all doing great now!
