Birth Story:

I had complications since my 28th week of pregnancy.. They thought I had Pre-eclamsia, which I didn't but they monitored me really close anyway.. Then they were concerned about my placenta when they viewed it on the ultrasound. My OB said it was a grade 2 and was breaking down.. She ordered a BPP (bio-physical -profile for baby) everyweek and then I went up to labor and delievery and had a non-stress test done... Everything always went well and Autumn passed with flying colors.. But still my placenta was a concern.. So Dr. Vance did not want me to go to my due date,so we scheduled an induction date.

I went into the hospital Tuesday, the 27th of March (also went to DR.visit prior to hospital admission~ I was 70 or 80% effaced but no dialation, had u/sound, Autumn looked great) and was giving cervadil which started contractions shortly after. They started pitocin at 6 am on Wed. the 28th of March.. The contractions got stronger and closer together.. I had contractions for 15 or 16 hours.. Dr. Vance came in to check me every couple of hours and Nothing was happening.. I only dialited 1/2 cent. In that 15 hour period, the baby was not dropping and she could not break my water because I had to be 2 or 3 cent. dialited. So she really felt like a c-section was my safest delievery option. Because of the baby not dropping.. if she broke my water the baby's umbilical cord could be prolapsed (not sure what that means except it would come out before she did) and if that happened it turned into EMERGENCY C-Section.. We immediatly asked everyone to pray for God to cover us and help us know what to do..With a lot of prayer Brad and I felt like a c-section was safest for Autumn and me. Everyone was praying.. Bro and sis. Velie (Our Pastor and his wife) even came up the night before and we had prayer... It was so special.. The spirit of the Lord just enveloped that Labor room. I felt so much peace.. Dr. Vance was checking me every couple of hours since the pitocin had been started.. So at 1:30 pm Wed. Dr. Vance checked me and I still had not made any progress. So we were going to have the section.. Once they gave me the epidural, it took 15 minutes to get me prepped for surgery.. She was born at 2:36 pm... I didn't feel a thing.. Just some pressure. She weighed 7lbs even and 20 inches long. I was back in my labor and delievery room for about an hour or two.. I was able to nurse and Brad, Autumn & me were able to be alone as a family.. A lot to take in!! Then they took me to my room and Brad & Autumn went to greet our visitors and family who had waited patiently to see her :) We really appreciated their patience. It was such an amazing experience.. Hearing her cry for the first time, seeing her, getting to hold my precious gift from above.. What a joy children are!! I am recovering well. I was up and about the next day and everyday has gotten easier. I was discharged from the hospital on March 31.. (for those of you who know about the strike..the last day our insurance was active..GOD IS GOOD!!) We've been home now for a week.. We are adjusting well~ Brad & I never knew how much love you could have for someone. It's an undescribable feeling! Please continue to pray for us. We're still living in a fema trailer and our house is under construction now. We're hoping to be in the house by the fall. Joni
