Birth Story:
Monday came as a normal day, I got up and went to work, but as soon as I got to work I knew it wasn't going to be a typical
Monday! At about 8:00am I started feeling some mild contractions, and I was trying to decide whether or not they were real
labor contractions or if it was just false labor. By 10:30 I realized it probably was the real thing. So, I called Edward
and let him know that something might be happening. I then called my doctor's office and asked them what to do and they told
me to start timing each one. (keep in mind, I am still at work, and very busy) Needless to say, I had not gotten one contraction
timed, but I knew they were coming a lot faster and harder! So, I called them back at about 11:15 and asked if I could come
over and be checked, but I was pretty sure I was in labor. As soon as they checked me I was dilated to a 3 and 90% effaced.
They said I was going to have Colton today and my doctor took me to the hospital. I called Edward and my mom immediately and
they were on their way. We got to the hospital about 12:00 and Dr. Nauser broke my water and I got an epidural around 1:00.
We then quickly progressed and soon we were dilated to a 6 1/2. We had to start pitocin at this point because my contractions
had started to fade out. This was at about 7:00pm. By 9:30 we were ready to start pushing and at 10:16pm Colton was born!
He weighed 8 lbs. 3.2 oz, and was 20 1/4 in. long. I had a fever my entire labor so, that was transferred to him and he had
to go to the NICU until Wednesday night. He was treated for a bacterial infection through iv's. I have been discharged from
the hospital, but he is going to be there until Friday. The hospital has been wonderful, they have set a room up for Edward
and I so we don't have to leave him here. He is in our room with us now and doing wonderful!! We are so excited to have him
with us finally and can't wait to get home!
