Birth Story:
I was diagnosed with preeclampsia on 2/6/07 at a regular doctor's appointment. After unsuccessful bedrest I developed HELLP
syndrome and was readmitted to the hospital for steroids and close monitoring. On 2/15/07 the doctor came in at 8 am and
said we couldn't wait any longer since my condition was getting rapidly worse. Although the baby was head-down my cervix
wasn't yet ready for delivery and the doctor didn't feel we had enough time to attempt a vaginal delivery. I went for a Stat
C-section at 12 pm on the 15th and the baby was born at 12:30. I was given a spinal narcotic so I was able to stay awake
the whole time and see him. Grayson came out screaming and healthy, his apgars were 9 and 9. He was briefly intubated for
surfactant treatment but then was allowed to breathe normally on his own. He's the most beautiful creature I've ever laid
eyes on. He will probably spend a month in NICU but will then come home in plenty of time for spring.
